LISTENFIRST MEDIA LAUNCHES FIRST SYNDICATED TELEVISION AND FILM RATINGS OF FAN ENGAGEMENT
ListenFirst Digital Audience Ratings™ (DAR) Establish Independent Standard of Consumer Interaction On Social Media and other Digital Channels
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “Annabelle” Top Rated TV Show and Film
NEW YORK, NY (September 2, 2014) – Responding to a market need for an independent measurement of how consumers are interacting with major media properties across social media and other digital platforms, ListenFirst Media today launched the first syndicated rating system for fan engagement with television and film.
By aggregating engagement data across the most critical and widely trafficked digital platforms, ListenFirst Digital Audience Ratings™ (DAR) offer insights about what television programming and films resonate the strongest with their fans.
For the film industry, this affords valuable information it can use to complement traditional tracking/research and adjust and optimize marketing strategies to enhance box office returns. For the television landscape, ListenFirst DAR provides a view into which television programs are captivating fans on a daily basis, regardless of whether they’re in-season, out-of-season, or streaming on platforms such as Netflix or Amazon. Most notably, ListenFirst DAR will provide advertisers, marketers, and sales teams with a measurement standard to assess the value of consumer engagement with leading entertainment properties.
ListenFirst DAR is based on an algorithm that measures fan engagement with television programs and films across Facebook, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, Wikipedia, and YouTube. This standardized cross-platform rating will enable studio and television executives, as well as advertisers and agencies, to understand the magnitude of fan affinity for all film and television programming, and compare any property’s performance to the rest of the competitive landscape.
More than 40 major studios, broadcast networks and cable channels, including A+E Networks (A&E, History, and Lifetime), AMC Networks, The CW, Relativity Media, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Pictures, USA Network and others have signed on as Launch Partners; additionally, the Weekly Top 10 television programs and Top 5 films will be published exclusively with Variety, establishing ListenFirst DAR as the industry standard for measuring digital engagement with major media content.
ListenFirst DAR will be offered on a subscription basis to networks, studios, agencies, advertisers, and other select clients. The current week’s leaderboard can be found exclusively at Variety.
"We developed ListenFirst Digital Audience Ratings in response to requests from networks, studios, and sales teams who are all struggling with the same question: how do I value audience engagement for film and television across digital/social platforms in a digestible and consistent manner? The rapid adoption of DAR by the biggest media players has shown that we are solving a universal dilemma faced by everyone from marketing to ad sales to research to media buying. We’re providing the measurement standard to quantify audience engagement in a way that complements traditional tracking and ratings, which don’t take these critical indicators into account.”
"In this ever-evolving media landscape, there's a need to measure consumer engagement with film and TV that goes far beyond TV ratings and box office. We wanted to partner with ListenFirst because they offer the most comprehensive solution out there toward capturing valuable data across so many digital platforms."
“From the moment we got into the social media space almost a decade ago, our team has been very focused on building an analytics dashboard to show how our campaigns are performing. There are far too many measures to track in the digital space and no standard approach that all of the studios buy into. Simply put, ListenFirst Digital Audience Ratings are a game-changer because they track a comprehensive list of metrics and provide historical benchmarks from other film campaigns. All of this helps us prioritize our efforts and optimize our plan of attack.”
“As the industry moves from a linear focus to a socially enabled multiplatform world, we need to be open to new forms of measurement to gauge efficacy and ROI. ListenFirst understands the complexity of this new media landscape and Digital Audience Ratings provide its partners with an easy, scalable way to measure audience engagement across multiple platforms.”
“The way audiences consume and engage with television programming is changing rapidly and the industry needs to find new ways to articulate the power of our programming. For the first time ever, ListenFirst Digital Audience Ratings allow us to quantify cross-platform digital and social engagement that isn’t reliant on time-slots or even if a show is in-season or out-of-season. It’s about articulating the value of a program and giving us - and our advertisers - the context to compare that program in a consistent and simple way across the television landscape.”
“We know our programming resonates with audiences across many different digital platforms - from Facebook to YouTube to Instagram - and ListenFirst Digital Audience Ratings finally give us a simple and insightful way to talk about the impact of our shows and help arm our sales teams with a standard, apples-to-apples measurement of performance.”
